Guitarist and bandleader Dan Knobler first picked up guitar at age nine. In 2004, at age 15, he founded Captain Coconut with Zack Rosen and Matt Porter. Since then, he has been the group’s manager, booking agent, principal songwriter and producer.
Dan was awarded an Outstanding Musicianship Award at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival in 2006 and a Remmy for best Freshman Production from the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at NYU, which he currently attends.
He has booked the band at major NYC venues including CBGB, The Bitter End, The Knitting Factory, and Gracie Mansion. Dan uses a Fender Stratocaster or Ibanez AS-200 with Captain Coconut and a variety of pedals including the AnalogMan King of Tone and Keeley Compressor.
