Baritone Saxophonist/Composer Danny Rivera currently attends the Manhattan School of Music under the instruction of JLCO’s Joe Temperly. He has performed all over New York City, including venues such as the Jazz Standard, Birdland, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola and the 2006 IAJE Conference.

Danny has received outstanding soloist awards from the Essentially Ellington and Berklee High School competitions as well as the ASCAP Young Jazz Composers award. In 2008, Danny was commissioned by Bobby Sanabria to re-arrange masterworks by Machito and Tito Puente. In spring 2009, the Danny Rivera Big Band received an Outstanding Performance Award from Downbeat Magazine.

Danny has also performed with a number of established jazz musicians including Paquito D’ Rivera, Benny Golson, George Benson, Kurt Elling, Al Jarreau, Jon Hendricks, Joe Locke, Lew Soloff, Jeremy Pelt, Peter Bernstien, Lewis Nash, and Dave Leibman. Danny currently performs with the Bobby Sanabria Big Band, Laura Izabor, Outsly, Shwizz, and Howard Johnson’s Bear-Tones.
